New Year, New You Challenge

Do you hate New Year’s Resolutions? I do too. But in 2016 I celebrated my 50th birthday. My health is very important to me so I set some health and fitness goals so that I could measure and then preserve my health for decades to come.  I recorded a video about my Fit at Fifty Challenge and it can be seen at StraightChiro.com/videos.

For my fitness goals, I picked a few functional movements and I recorded my results. Are you as fit as you should be?

You may already exercise regularly and be as healthy as you should be. I commend you for your commitment to your health. On the other hand you may realize you have room for improvement. Regardless of which category you place yourself in, are you doing all you can or should be doing? I invite you to take part in our New Year, New You Challenge.

For my Fit at Fifty Challenge, I chose my goals. That’s important because I was motivated to do what I wanted to do. But I also had guidance. There is an online questionnaire called a Health Risk Assessment, or HRA created by Dr. James Chestnut at WellnessandPrevention.com. I was able to answer questions about my health habits as they relate to physical, chemical and emotional stressors. Then I used that information, which is all evidence based, to establish my goals. I then tracked my performance daily with an app on my phone called “Way of Life.” Then at the end of 90 days I could see my realistic and truthful progress and success. Then I used the information from the app to do a new HRA. I must say that it built my self esteem when I set a goal, tracked the goal and then measured the progress.

Have you set unrealistic goals in the past? And then a few weeks into the new year you felt guilty because you had already thrown in the towel? How about making 2017 different? Most people are surprised when they take a HRA and find out they really aren’t as healthy as they thought they were.  That’s how it was for me. But it also doesn’t lie.

Why not start 2017 with a true and accurate assessment of your health and then set realistic goals to improve your health? If you are already a part of the Straight Chiropractic family, you may be familiar with the HRA. Talk to someone on our team so that you can have a questionnaire emailed to you. If you aren’t a part of our practice yet and you live in the area, call our office and tell my staff you want to be able to set realistic goals for 2017, beginning with a HRA and be a part of our New Year, New You Challenge. Don’t worry, you won’t be making any commitments to me. I won’t be babysitting you. It’s all about you reaching your potential. Now for a disclaimer, I won’t be making any money on this. I pay a monthly subscription to provide the HRA for my patients.

The cost for a HRA is only $5 but you will need one at the beginning and one after 90 days for a total of only $10. However, if you want to be a part of this Challenge, you cover part of my cost by paying only $5 and I will pay the other $5 for you.

Make your 2017 New Year’s Resolutions count.
