The most common supplement taken by people are multi vitamins. Are they really essential for good health? In other words, can you be healthy without taking a multi vitamin every day?
The short answer is yes, you can be healthy without taking a multi vitamin every day. But please don’t stop reading now because it’s likely that you need the long answer and it’s probable that taking a multi vitamin is essential to your health.
A multi vitamin is not essential. What is essential are the nutrients that are contained in the multi vitamin. However, our ancestors did not take synthetic multi vitamins. How did they stay healthy? They ate a lot of natural foods that were full of nutrients. They didn’t need to supplement.
So again I say, you don’t need to take multi vitamins…if you are getting all the nutrients that your body requires according to your genetics for optimal health from the food you eat.
I work hard at eating a lot of veggies and fruits, grass fed meats, organ meats like liver, heart and tongue. Even with all that, I know that I don’t consume all of the nutrients I need from all of these healthy foods. The answer for me is I take a good multi vitamin.
What makes for a good multi vitamin? The closer it is to nature the better your body will be able to absorb and utilize the nutrients. Therefore, I would not take anything that has anything synthetic in it. As far as I’ve been able to find, there’s only one 100% natural, freeze dried veggies and fruit multi vitamin on the market. It’s made by Innate Choice. There’s absolutely nothing synthetic in it. It’s just as if you were eating the food. Freeze drying preserves almost all of the nutrients.
If you choose to take a multi vitamin, it should still be considered a supplement to a good healthy diet. Eat lots of fruits and veggies, naturally raised meats and certainly don’t be afraid of the most nutrient rich meats available, organ meats. Remember, our ancestors got all the essential multi vitamins and nutrients from the foods they ate.
